The Unband at Coney Island High
NYC St. Marks Place
July 15, 1996

The Unband, This is why I love rock and roll. This band is it, live anyway. Their equipment was for crap. The sound system was lousy. But it could not stop the genius of their art from shining through. They were a complete fall-apart three piece punk rock outfit. After each song they had to put something back together. The mike stands flew, the drums came apart. They rocked out, spazed out, threw there guts into it. Some songs seemed to become instrumentals because they were so carried away that they forgot to sing the words. The music was lost and not found, but so secondary to what they were able to get across in the course of their songs.
Electric drunken stumbling men. Eugene on drums (no shirt), Mike on bass (he wore a suit), Matt on guitar and lead vocals. From Massachusetts.
